Pisano – Tema di Oscar
For the next review of my best
barbershop fragrances I decided to go with Prada Amber pour Homme. Although
Amber is not a classic barbershop scent, it has some barbershop clean vibe.

Amber pour Homme was released 10 years
ago, in 2006 and composed by Master Daniele (Roche) Andrier. Mrs. Andrier’s
work is behind all Prada fragrances, and one can feel their same clean nature.
So, Amber pour Homme is no exception.
Prada Amber pour Homme opens with a burst
of neroli, bergamot and citrus flowers characteristic for classic colognes still
popular in southern Europe. This Mediterranean kick is immediately followed by oriental
notes of saffron and pale Miro resin. I really enjoy this oriental twist in
Prada. Musk is very clean and soapy in Prada as usual. The base is consisted of
a nice suede accord, gentle sweetness of Tonks bean and a light woody touch. Is
there any amber in Amber pour Homme? I cannot detect any dense amber notes
known in classic oriental fragrances, but I can feel some oriental and sweet
undertones reminding me of amber. Amber is already a fictional note thus I do
allow this modern reinterpretation of amber. All the notes are well blended,
and it’s hard to pinpoint at one main note.
Prada pour Homme is both modern and
classic, as the inspiration is obviously taken from classic colognes and
fougere fragrances and reworked in a contemporary manner. It’s elegant, soapy clean,
easy to wear, little bit conservative, perfectly unisex, and sexy with some
barbershop nuances. There is almost nothing not to like in Amber pour Homme. It
will always be in my collection as safe business choice.
