To this date Cedrat Boise is the still
most popular Mancera’s fragrance. Although named cedrat, the citruses are not
the main players. The name of the perfumer is still somehow unclear. Is Pierre
Mancera only a pseudonym? Are Pierre Mancera and Pierre Montale the same person?
I am not going to discuss the issue, but the perfumer did a pretty god job.

Cedrat Boise is a potent blend of fruits,
flowers, woods and leather. It starts with natural, bright and soft lemon note.
This uplifting lemon is harmoniously paired with black current. Sweet fruits
are followed by one of the most precious gifts of Orient – jasmine. The most intriguing
part of Cedrat Boise is black glove leather combined with Godzilla-sized sweet
cedar. In the end, this interplay of notes should result in something unwearable,
but is quite pleasant and very attractive.
The composition is linear, and somehow
simple. Deep behind is some oily undertone, I am not very fond of.
Now, the most important question does
Cedrat Boise resemble Aventus? Both yes and no. Fruity-leather combo resembles
Aventus, and possesses its charm, but Mancera is a fragrance of its own. Fruits
served on a leather glove in carpenter’s cabinet.
When I bought Cedrat Boise, I was amazed.
Unfortunately, these days Aventus and all Aventus-class compositions are
getting pretty boring to me. It seems like the whole market tries to present
their own vision. Cedrat Boise is very good, but does not impress me enough. It
is easy to wear, charming and successful. And, it is a great compliment getter.
