In my eyes Nathalie Lorson of Firmenich is one of the most creative perfumers in the industry. Every her creation has got some classical yet modern touch, particularly felt in Lalique fragrances Encre Noir, Amethyst and Perles de Lalique. In a recent interview for persolaise.blogspot.com Master Lorson declared how pleasant the cooperation is with Lalique stuff, giving the perfumer most valuable things – time and freedom. Patience and freedom are crucial for every successful creation, and that one can smell in Lalique fragrance.
Perles de Lalique is introduced in 2006, and correctly categorized as a floral Chypre. Company Lalique was originally a crystal manufacturer and Perles’ bottle matches their reputation. Simple, Art Deco elegant, monochromatic, attractive, and gorgeous.
The fragrance itself is 21st century floral Chypre. The flowery heart of every classical Chypre (rose and jasmine) are introduced in contemporary woody-spicy environment. Very soft and wet rose, pepper, slightly powdery iris and jasmine are put in powerful, but transparent cocoon of Iso E Super. Iso E Super gives a strong touch of bright woods to this fragrance, but it is not flat and boring due to the sparkling aspects of rose a jasmine. According to Ohloff G et al.* Perles de Lalique contains the molecule Paradisone (enantiomerically pure Hedione) with jasmine odor and an amazing 80% of the Iso E Super molecule! The base is very soft, containing mild patchouli and Chypre-characteristic strong musky notes.
Rose, jasmine and musk give some classic feeling around this fragrance, while pepper and lots of Iso E Super ultra-contemporary touch, resulting in pronounced and balanced duality. High dose of Iso E Super is the reason of the unisex character of Perles de Lalique, but I really admire the hidden female sensuality of this beautiful fragrance. Clean, easy to wear, refined, sensual and lovely Lalique’s treasure.
