Scentrack: re:plus - Solitude
It took me some time to understand and appreciate
L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Intense. At first sniff, I was utterly disappointed. It smelled to me like an expensive cosmetic product. Olfactory white noise.
However, I didn’t give up, and after a week of wearing – bingo. I finally saw
the beauty of this creation. It opens with a nice yuzu note, a trademark of Issey
Miyake fragrances created by Jacques Cavallier. Then suddenly top notes morphed
in the heart of the watery lotus flower spiced with gentle cinnamon and nutmeg. Very
oriental touch. The remarkable introspective nature of this creation is
represented by the cold incense note and papyrus. The incense is like an unburnt incense stick. This tune, only amped, was later replayed in Nuit d’Issey by
Dominique Ropion and Loc Dong. The whole story is rounded by a warm and gentle
amber accord. Fresh, yet substantial. Ideal for an alternative summer fragrance.
So many layers are hidden beneath. Waiting to be discovered by a gentle and
empathic soul. This creation is beautiful, quiet, introspective, and fleeting.
Like life itself. The very essence of Japan is captured in scented drops.
