Dior Homme Parfum - The Thrill is Gone (Francis Kurkdjian, 2025)

The original Dior Homme Parfum was, in my opinion, a beautiful top-notch iris from one of the most prestige fragrance houses. It was huge and larger than life. Personally, I did not wear the original Parfum, but I admired the lush composition. Unlike Parfum 2025.

The new 2025 Parfum is a different kind of breed. Unfortunately, the luxurious vibe is gone. This composition is just another mainstream designer scent. It opens with a very nice iris, lavender, and some almond (coumarin) sweetness I previously encountered in Armani Code Profumo. Soon, some kind of artificial steamy amber-like vibe accompanied by a hefty dose of ethyl maltol ruled the composition. It smells more like Le Male flanker than Dior Homme. In fact, it reminds me the most of Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge – a 2002 more gourmand take on Le Male by Bernard Ellena. The base finally reminded me of Dior Homme theme – vetiver, cedar, and patchouli.

Does it smell nice? Yes, it is only OK. Still, I expected much more than a synthetic chimera of Armani Code Profumo, Jacomo Rouge, and Dior Homme.
